McAllen ISD STEAM Plus Framework for Student Learning serves to develop the whole child through academics, fine arts, athletics and a set of integral skills and attitudes to prepare students to be successful in an ever-changing workforce. The Framework is comprised of interconnected components including:

• The State Curriculum Standards - standards, objectives and guidelines that drive teaching and learning

• STEAM - interdisciplinary connections to the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics through curricular and extracurricular experiences

• Plus - the necessary interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and attitudes needed for students to be successful beyond the classroom setting
